Fare changes from 1st December 2024 12/11/2024

From Sunday 1st December we’ll be making some carefully considered changes to some of our bus fares.

As a relatively small business we have always tried to ensure that we keep fare price changes to a minimum as we’re always conscious that the cost of living has increased significantly over the last few years.

In some cases, fares will only now just exceed the level they were before we came along 10 years ago! For example, in December 2014 a return ticket between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn was £6.80, this will for the first time in 10 years exceed this amount by 20p (10p per trip).

However, given that costs of operation continue to increase and will do even more so following the recent Budget, we’re now in a position where we need to make some changes to fares.

The following tickets will therefore increase in price:

  • Single (One-way) tickets
  • Two-trip tickets – Don’t forget these will remain valid for a month from the date of issue so are better value than two single tickets, providing that you make another journey within the month!
  • Weekly and Monthly tickets – These will also increase in price but they will continue to be discounted at 25% over normal levels, due to Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding.

From the same date we’ll also no longer offer 10-trip tickets. Demand for these tickets has always been very low as in many cases they didn’t represent any more discount than purchasing five 2-trip tickets. These tickets were also subject to some fraudulent use regrettably. 10-trip tickets previously purchased will be continued to be valid for travel until expired.

There will be no changes to any unlimited travel ticket prices at all (i.e. Townrider, Explorer, Coast or Fusion tickets) and the £1.50 discounted single ticket in King’s Lynn will remain in place until the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding ceases at the end of March 2025. Fares on new service 60 are also largely unchanged.
